FAQ

Q: I’ve had deep tissue work that was really uncomfortable, is this going to hurt?

A: No. I work within your tolerance. A person with low pain tolerance can benefit from a light orthopedic massage just as much as a person with a high tolerance can benefit from a deep pressure massage.

Q: What do I wear?

A: Shorts. We may be doing hip stretching. Sports bra is optional. You will be covered with a sheet.

After your 1st session, if you would like your money back, email me with a request to laurentstewart@yahoo.com and I will refund you one full session.

I have been treating patients with severe chronic pain since 1981. Most of these patients have had back and neck pain and severe headaches as the result of muscle spasms. My accident transformed me into one of the patients that I had been treating. Fortunately for me I found Lauren Stewart. Her knowledge of the anatomy of the muscles and nerves, how we use those muscles and how they can be abused and cause pain, informs her exceptional treatment with deep tissue massage and myofascial release. Lauren works with her patients, not “on†her patients, and the collaboration leads to remarkable results. I cannot recommend her more highly.  - Dr. Richard L. Bruno, The Post-Polio Institute

I have been receiving massages from Lauren for almost three years.  I am a dance and Zumba instructor and I train hard. I often suffer from severe Plantar Fasciitis. This condition causes excruciating pain in my heel. Lauren explained to me the cause being excessive jumping and old shoes, resulting in over supination (walking on my outer foot) and tightening of a muscle called posterior tibialis. Because I cannot avoid jumping I am constantly aggravating it.

So I go to her to release the tightness in my heel and calf, although more impressively she will chase a ligament all the way up to behind my knee. I am constantly blown away by how she knows that although the pain is in my heel, she then follows precise areas in my entire leg and hip that lead to that spot.  Because I am a fitness instructor, it is very important to me to have a massage therapist with an extensive knowledge of anatomy.

Lauren will work a muscle on my outer thigh for the sole purpose that she knows I frequently salsa and practice many lateral movements when I teach. The areas she releases are always right on the money.  I don't stretch enough and feel tight and stiff.  Lauren’s massage is like the ultimate colossal stretch.   Lauren has a positive energy.  If I engage her in conversation she is always friendly and has something uplifting to say. If I choose to be quiet she understands and allows for quiet healing.  - H. Revah, Dance Instructor/ Restaurant Owner

Lauren is a great massage therapist.  I have trained in the martial arts for many years, and have some old injuries that continue to cause me pain.  From the first time I met Lauren she listened carefully to all of my concerns, and devised various regimens to address each issue.  She continues to learn more about anatomy and the interaction of muscles and ligaments, and applies that knowledge in our sessions.  Her explanations have helped me visualize the internal workings of my muscles and ligaments so I can better understand them.  She has also stretched out the muscles after a massage to help increase the flexibility which helps in my daily life, as well as in my training.  Recently she’s been working on a hamstring tear which was preventing me from kicking at the height I wanted and hurt pretty badly with stretching. After three treatments to the hamstring tear and hips in general, I have gained almost full range of kick.  Before getting my first massage about 1-1/2 years ago I had never tried it.  Now I am glad I make the time each month, as I definitely feel better afterward.  R.
